Discussion Starter #3 Jan 8, nope. on the shifter (heal/toe on the FLH) there is a shaft that runs from the 2 levers, through a boss in the inner primary where it connects to a shord rod then a shaft runs back the tranny. the shifter levers were real sloppy on the shaft so I bought new bushings. the trouble is trying to. Insert through bolt through the remaining bushing, then through the shift coupler, shift rod and opposite bushing.
Tighten shift coupler through bolt (pair of pliers and 8mm wrench).
Install shifter making sure the reverse lockout plate is installed correctly (long side ramp is on the right and pointing towards the front) and tighten the two. Mar 08, this is the first lower unit that i cant get the bushing out the normal way (shaft bushing tool).
i threaded the bushing (5/16) then used a bolt and puller to yank the bugger out. can i just reinstall the bushing? or should it be replaced? i decided that i would try the thread the bushing trick.
